Bulli Showground Markets chats with regular Jenna DeVries about the M2M challenge in aid of raising funds for Greenacres.
Jenna and her brother Jack have been regular attendees of the Bulli Showground Markets since they started in April. “It’s definitely a part of our weekly routine,” she said. “We love the produce, the food, the people, the stalls, and just the atmosphere of support that everyone gives off.”
Jenna was chatting with market owner Rick Powell about his vision for the future of the markets, and he had mentioned that he wanted to make sure that the market incorporates a real charity focus as it continues to grow. She seized the opportunity and offered to represent our market at the Mountain to Mountain Challenge. But the support doesn’t stop their; Bulli Showground Markets will be raising funds through August & September to support both Jack and Jenna in their amazing efforts.
At the time of publication I’m pleased to announce that Jack and Jenna successfully completed the thirteen kilometre track that took place between Mount Keira and Mount Kembla. Jack and Jenna chose the more strenuous 13.6km option. We hope to match their amazing efforts and raise whatever we can for this wonderful facility.
Greenacres is located in Wollongong (http://www.greenacres.net.au/) and provides exciting employment opportunities to those for whom it would be otherwise out of reach. They work in conjunction with the NDIS to enrich the lives of people with a disability within the local community. What’s even more encouraging is to see the amount of regular faces at the markets who noted that they popped in after completing the Mountain to Mountain Challenge. We absolutely love that our customer community is just as dedicated to philanthropy as we are.
In more charity news local legends Need A Feed were delighted to receive the donations from stall-holders and customers alike. In the interest of continuing to assist their work in making life a little easier for those who are struggling, Need A Feed have started to put together Dignity Packs for the homeless. These packs contain washing and hygiene products that some who are facing financial hardship do not have access to. What we may consider everyday necessities are absolute luxuries to others. So if you have anything (think: hotel shampoo, unopened deodorant; wipes; etc) new products are preferred for hygiene reasons.
If you would like to make a donation to any of these worthy causes make your way to Roaming Fresh or the management stall at our next market - Sunday 18th August.
